This month’s photo is from the article by Trevor Fraser in the Orlando Sentinel for Leu Garden’s exhibit for “Enchanted Fairy Doors.”

The exhibit will be open until Sept 30th. If you cannot make it with us or on your own check out the Orlando Sentinel gallery online.

If you want to share what lights your  spirit up email your photo to mysticgrove@orlandouu.org and tell us about it!

Welcome to 2018-2019 Church Year!

Thank to all those who came out to this month’s meeting. We set some records today!

  • Took the second ever photo with the group’s ribbon staff.
  • Got almost all member dues turned in and forms done in a single day.
  • Decided our new t-shirt color and got the t-shirt order ready.
  • Held a mini ritual in the campus labyrinth to celebrate outgoing and incoming leaders, honor new and renewing members, and bless the campus.

Then most of us kept right on partying and went on to a cookout/pool party rather than a typical restaurant lunch. Whew!

Mystic Grove 2018-2019 is now open and looking forward to a great new church year together! (Minutes summary will be posted within a week.)

MIDSUMMER  RITUAL

Our next solar ritual is Summer Solstice Morning Service on Sunday June 24, 2018.  It will be held at 11 AM in the Sanctuary.  The general theme revolves around “reigniting the spark” in your spiritual practices.   It should be a feast for the eyes and ears!  Fellowship time to follow in Gore Hall at noon.  For those interested, there is also the Pagan Pride Planning meeting in Room 1 at 12:30 PM.

After today’s meeting we have identified some easy volunteering jobs if anyone would like to help out:

  • Kitchen Helpers. Show up around between 10 and 10:30 AM on the day to ask the kitchen folks if they need help setting up the snacks.  Helpers to linger to help clean up also welcome.

  • Community Altar Items. If you wish to display your “spiritual practice” item on the community altar rather than in digital photos on the service slides, please bring your item with a name label on it.  This way in case it gets forgotten so we can get it back to you.  Please limit items to about soda can size or smaller if possible.  Show up early between 10:15 – 10:45 AM to place your item on the front altar.
  • Extra drummers.  To help carry a simple beat on several songs.
  • Water Corner person.  To stand at the Water banner and shake a rain stick when cued.
  • “Fire in the Head” shouters  interspersed in the pews.  We will be doing  a rendition of Emerald Rose “Fire in the Head” as a “call and response song.”  We need some voices in the pews  ready to yell “Fire in the Head!” in the right moments.
  • Potluck finger food. For coffee hour after the services in Gore Hall.  As a courtesy to allergy people, please label dishes with name of cook and any allergy ingredients.
  • “Stations Helpers.” At social hour we will have 3 areas for making god’s eyes, coloring pages, and a music corner.  Doing simple activities encourages people to get to know each other and actually ASK their neighbor — “what spiritual practices to you enjoy doing?”

Kitchen Witches Team

6:15 PM – 7 PM Put out holiday cloths. Make punch in crockpots. Receive cookies and treats from guests. I will help label and plate them up nice on the tables and then lock up before heading to service.

7:45 PM – Open up again and get ready for the wave of singers. At this point, it is mainly traffic management. They come in one door and out the other.  Help children/elders get punch and keep the lines moving.

9 PM – Condense punch into one, then set up the other crockpots to cook the casseroles.

11:30 Get ready to serve Midnight Buffet, condense cookie plates, make space on food tables, etc

Periodically check in the night and wash dishes, condense plates so it’s done “along the way” and not all piled up at the end.

7 AM — Ziploc and label leftovers.

Show up in Assembly Room at 6:15 and find Cat.

BYO aprons.

7 PM Children’s Dance Leader

I can lead the parents and babies in a simple “go around in a circle” movement while the others do the more complicated spiral dance all around us. We stay safe inside the labyrinth.

Show up Dec 15 at Craft Circle so we can show you the space and explain what to do at that point of the service.

Show up on the Day and do it.

8 PM ish – Break Down Main Altar

I can help move things out of the Sanctuary and over to Room 1.

Show up at Main Altar at the end of service. Follow directions from Mary.

Come and Be Welcome

Show up Dec 9 at Circle of Song.

Show up Dec 15 at Craft Circle
